The most frequently asked questions about the referral of patients to the Sanoculus Surgical Centers

At the beginning of 2018, we brought our operating room up to the latest technical standards. Both the operating room itself (with Zeiss microscope, Alcon phaco machine and Brumaba operating tables) as well as the central sterilization (Miele thermal disinfector, Melag Steri etc.) and the preliminary examination (Zeiss IOL Master 700, Pentacam HD, Triton plus OCT with FLA, autofluorescence and Angio-OCT) have been raised to the latest standards.

  • Cataract operations (also toric IOL or EDOF lenses on request)
  • YAG capsulotomy of the post-star
  • YAG iridotomy for narrow-angle glaucoma
  • SLT laser for glaucoma
  • Cyclophotocoagulation for glaucoma
  • Argon laser therapy for retinal findings (foramen, diabetic retinopathy)
  • Eyelid surgery (e.g. for chalazion, entropion, ectropion, blepharochalasis, etc.)
  • Glaucoma surgery (e.g. trabelectomy, iStents)

Our goal is not to perform the highest number of cataract surgeries in Berlin per year, but to offer cataract surgeries of the highest quality for our patients.
Our idea of care is holistic.
In our Sanoclus ophthalmology practices, you get to know the surgeon before the operation and plan the operation together with her.
We perform around 800 cataract operations a year.

We make every effort to keep waiting times as short as possible.
At the moment you can expect 4-6 weeks.
However, there is always the possibility of a quicker appointment if a patient cancels at short notice.
If the waiting time becomes too long, we will add extra surgery days.
This prudent appointment management enables us to fulfill our patients’ wishes for cataract surgery.

Your patient should present their currently valid health insurance card (chip card) and a referral from you.
If you already have them, it is also very helpful if you provide all documents such as findings, doctor’s letters, pictures, etc. that are related to your illness.

After the operation/treatment, the patient receives from us:

  • Relevant information on the surgery performed (type of anesthesia, medication administered, dosage of pain medication if applicable)
  • A telephone number to contact in case of problems or emergencies
  • A post-operative patient information sheet with advice and tips on how best to behave in the days following surgery to promote recovery
  • An appointment for a surgical check-up / dressing change / aftercare at your premises or, if you wish, at our practice
